Council letter to LOW 21 February 2000 Dear Sirs (sic) USE OF WWW.LEICESTERCITYCOUNCILCO.UK ~ DOMAIN NAME I understand that you are the registered user of this domain name. This site is, of course, unconnected to the City Council and not endorsed by us. While the Council is keen to promote open debate about Leicester affairs, it is concerned that the use of this domain name may lead to confusion among users of the Internet about the status of this site. I therefore write as a matte (sic) of courtesy to advise you that the City Council has written to Nominet UK to request that it suspend your registration of this domain name. I would suggest you give urgent consideration to a suitable alternative domain name at which to operate the site presently at this address. If you would like the Council to advise you whether any particular name is likely to be acceptable to it, I will be pleased to do so. . |

| So LCC
tell us they would be happy to advise us if certain alternative domain names would be
acceptable to them. "ACCEPTED BY LEICESTER CITY COUNCIL" as it were.
At this point I would like to tell you some of the ideas we had for alternative
domain names... er, but none of them are printable in a family website, and some could
even be libellous... I'm sure some of our regular surfers will have a few ideas of their own... The Editor |
